Rebecca's casual cruelty to every adult within arm's reach, delivered with a smile, hits because the show never breaks character, treating her sarcasm as completely reasonable while everything around her collapses. SHAFT's direction doesn't just support the jokes, it weaponizes them: parodies stack on parodies, visual gags layer under dialogue gags, the frame itself becomes another punchline. You need otaku knowledge to catch half of what's actually being referenced, but the comedy works even when you miss the target. The chaos is deliberate, not sloppy. A show built for people who think faster comedy is better comedy.

Rebecca Miyamoto is a child prodigy and MIT graduate who, at barely eleven, takes charge of Class 1-C at Momotsuki Academy, a room of tenth-grade girls who are anything but ordinary. She may look adorable, but she has a sharp, sarcastic tongue and little patience for anyone. Her students Himeko, Ichijou and Rei, along with a white rabbit that has grown fond of her, join Rebecca in turning the school upside down. They make trouble for the class next door and its grandfatherly teacher, while a few foolish aliens add to the confusion.
