The soundtrack doesn't just back these scenes, it IS the scenes, every beat synced so tight that silence feels wrong. You watch heists unfold in perfect lockstep with Meguro's composition, and it's the closest anime has come to making a video game's rhythm native to the medium. This is a 47-minute commercial for Persona 5, but it doesn't matter because it spends every second proving why the original game deserves your time.

Set as a prologue to the Persona 5 game, this one-episode special opens on a Tokyo gripped by a fresh urban legend. Rumor has it that anyone who posts a request on the Ask-a-Thief Channel can call on the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, a vigilante group said to steal the hearts of corrupt people and leave them remorseful for their misdeeds. As odd, unexplained incidents keep occurring across the city, more and more requests pour in. Kazuya Makigami works as a burglar by night, but he has begun to doubt his crimes and the partners who help him carry them out. Unable to confront them on his own, he sends a request of his own to the channel.
