Planzet is a 3D CG spectacle that treats animation as the story itself, not decoration for it. The retro-futuristic visuals and alien invasion sequences have a weight and texture that most modern CGI anime forgot how to build. The script is thin and the characters exist only to move you between set pieces, but every set piece matters, this is pure visual sci-fi cinema for people who came to watch the world burn, not to know the soldiers burning it.

In 2047, an unknown alien life-form arrives on Earth and wipes out every major city in one blow. The survivors band together and build the Diffusor to stop the invaders, known as the Februus and later codenamed FOS by the military, and a shaky peace follows. Now in 2053, humanity readies Plan Zed, a final, desperate counterattack meant to take the planet back. Hiroshi Akishima, a soldier in the Planetary Defense Forces Alliance, wants nothing more than a chance to strike at the aliens he holds responsible for his father's death six years earlier. But the new offensive requires the Diffusor to be dropped, which would leave the whole planet exposed once again. This mecha science fiction action film centers on humanity's last gamble, where it may win back the stars or lose everything.
