Two centuries have passed since the final army of the Empire of Light was destroyed amid demonic cries at the Blue River, leaving the Western River with no single ruler. Rival houses rose, war became constant, and military strength decided who survived. In the south-east, House Zichuan, a family with over two hundred years of history, holds back demons on its eastern border, House Liufeng to the west and House Lin to the south. With the clan threatened from inside and out, three brothers step forward: the cold, clever Di Lin, the loyal soldier Sterling and the roguish but wise Zichuan Xiu. Humans, demons, orcs and eastern tribes clash across the continent in this action fantasy epic spanning a hundred years of the family's history.
