Ragna doesn't make you wait for the weight to hit. Characters die carrying real consequences, and the show refuses the easy revenge story, it's about what you become when vengeance stops being enough. The pacing stumbles early and the animation craters in the second half, but neither matters once you're locked into watching a man rebuild himself around a purpose bigger than his rage.

Dragons of an ancient bloodline roam the world as humanity's natural enemy, and only silverine, the aura of silver weapons, or sunlight can kill them. Ragna is a hunter who seems to lack real talent, and many call him cursed because dragons keep killing the people close to him. His friend Leonica, a young prodigy, still chooses him as her partner. Then Ragna dreams of her death and takes it as a prophecy. On the day it is due, he meets his future self, who gives him immense power and memories of what is to come so that Leonica survives. To succeed, he teams up with Crimson, a mysterious figure whose motives stay unclear but who shares his goal of wiping out the dragon monarchs. Based on a dark fantasy manga by Kobayashi Daiki, the show mixes action, adventure and mystery.
