Six thousand years on, the once thriving Sword Stream has declined, held up only by the Sword God Chao Qingqiu, who backs the current Swordsman Flow in its fight against the twelve saints of the Three Streams. Li Fuyao carries a deep hatred, earning a living as a storyteller in a small town before traveling to Jianshan, into the land of the devil, and on to the land of Buddhism. Once revenge is taken, Li Fuyao comes to see that a vast conspiracy spans the whole world. Questions pile up: why the Sword Stream started declining six thousand years ago, why the saints and Sword Gods across all that time never reached immortality, why Chao Qingqiu lives on in suspended animation, what the lanterns of Buddhism really are, and whether the dragon in the land of devils is a visitor from beyond this world.
