Leon and Chris finally share the same screen, and the movie knows exactly what you came for. The action sequences treat gunplay and infected bodies with the precision of someone who actually played the games, not someone explaining them to a friend. It's gore and spectacle built around characters you've spent decades with, which matters more here than whatever half-baked plot brought them to an island.
