Nicoletta goes to Rome to burn her mother's life down, walks into a restaurant full of bespectacled older men, and forgets why she was angry in the first place. Nicoletta arrives in Rome burning with fifteen years of resentment. Her mother, Olga, abandoned her as a child to remarry in Rome, and now the young woman means to ruin her life. She traces Olga to Casetta dell'Orso, a restaurant owned by her mother's boyfriend and unlike any place she has encountered. The entire staff consists of older gentlemen, all wearing glasses. Within moments of stepping inside, Nicoletta's plans begin to shift. Like the diners, she finds herself defenseless against the men's knowing smiles and warm voices. A series of events leads her to become an apprentice chef at the restaurant instead of carrying out her revenge, and her thirst for vengeance slowly gives way to the gentle romance of everyday Italian life.
