A girl with nothing to lose meets a king with everything to prove, and somehow that becomes a love story. The Beast King expects submission or fear. Sariphi gives him something worse: indifference that cracks into recognition. He stops seeing her as a sacrifice the moment she stops needing to be saved.

A kingdom of beasts and demons sustains itself through a brutal ritual: the consumption of human sacrifices to cement their dominance over mankind. When Sariphi arrives as the ninety-ninth offering, nothing about her fits the expected pattern. She shows no fear, sheds no tears, and faces her own death with an unsettling calm born from a life without family or home to miss. The Beast King is intrigued by the bold girl and lets her stay at his side as his consort despite her being human, even though his advisor Anubis disapproves. Slowly the two grow closer, but the night when the sacrifice is meant to be devoured draws near. A fantasy romance drama, it traces how a human girl comes to be queen of the beasts and demons.
