Achiga Girls' Academy in Nara once beat the regional mahjong powerhouse Bansei High School and reached the national team semifinals, where it fell to the eventual champion. The club was later disbanded. Six years on, elementary schooler Shizuno Takakamo becomes friends with transfer student Nodoka Haramura, and both go on to attend Achiga Girls', until Nodoka moves to another school in their second year. The next year, Shizuno sees Nodoka on television as the national middle school individual mahjong champion and sets out to bring Achiga's mahjong club back to life. The result is a slice of life sports story built around competitive mahjong.
