Ichitarou doesn't move much, doesn't need to, his spirits do the seeing for him, and that inverted dynamic becomes the show's entire point. A murder mystery told through the eyes of someone too frail to chase answers, where every spirit companion carries the weight of their own unfinished death. The pacing lets you breathe into each revelation, each conversation, each small moment of connection between a dying man and the ghosts who refuse to let him face Edo's darkness alone.

In the Edo period, Ichitarou, the frail young master of the Nagasakiya apothecary, spends most of his days confined to his estate. He is far from alone there: he can see spirits, and ghostly guardians such as Hakutaku and Inugami watch over him. One night he sneaks out on his own, is chased by a bloodied man, and comes upon the scene of a brutal killing. Soon a string of eerie murders spreads fear through the city. When the account of the first crime does not match what he saw, the quick-witted Ichitarou gathers clues from people and spirits alike to find the culprit.
