Anime Like Shabake
Ichitarou doesn't move much, doesn't need to, his spirits do the seeing for him, and that inverted dynamic becomes the show's entire point. A murder mystery told through the eyes of someone too frail to chase answers, where every spirit companion carries the weight of their own unfinished death. The pacing lets you breathe into each revelation, each conversation, each small moment of connection between a dying man and the ghosts who refuse to let him face Edo's darkness alone.
SYNOPSIS
Ichitarou runs a successful merchant house despite his sickly body that confines him mostly to his estate. What keeps him company isn't human: he can see spirits, and several ghostly beings have made him their home, including Hakutaku the mystical beast and Inugami the dog spirit. They're protective of their master, bound by genuine affection beneath the supernatural surface. One night, Ichitarou ventures outside and stumbles upon something he shouldn't have: a murder unfolding in the shadows of Edo. Before he can process what he's witnessed, the city erupts into chaos. Murders pile up with each passing day, each more disturbing than the last, sending fear through every street and alley. Now Ichitarou finds himself pulled into an investigation he never wanted. With his spirit companions by his side, he has to piece together what's connecting these crimes. But untangling a mystery this dark means confronting dangers that his protective circle of ghosts can't always shield him from. The answer lies somewhere between the living world and the spirit realm.
