Kunlun is a world of thousands of islands haunted by the Dark Spirits, a toxic essence that leaves permanent damage on the mind. Bai Ze is a Kunlun healer with a disaster behind him. Years ago, while trying to defend a healing island from the Dark Spirits, he put his untested theory into practice, destroyed the entire island by accident, and was expelled by the masters, a banishment tied to his effort to cure the terminal illness Hei Ling. Seven years later, he returns in search of redemption and stands close to proving himself through his research, until a frame-up forces him to flee. He takes refuge on the healing island, now in ruins, where Yi, a qilin, is looking for a cure. The fantasy film follows a disgraced healer back to the island he once destroyed.
