The Forger family works because nobody in it is trying to be likable, they're just colliding with each other in real time, and that chaos is funny in a way most shows can't touch. Animation this fluid shouldn't be wasted on a slice-of-life show about a fake family, but that's exactly why it lands so hard; watching Anya's face during a mundane argument hits different than watching her dodge bullets. The comedy loses some bite as the novelty settles, but the relationships have become the real operation, a spy, an assassin, a telepath, and a dog all learning that pretending to be a family made them actually become one.

With Anya now enrolled at Eden Academy, Operation Strix moves into its second phase. To get close to politician Donovan Desmond, Anya needs either to befriend his son Damian or earn eight Stella Stars to become an Imperial Scholar. She's already claimed one star, and Loid celebrates by granting her wish for a family dog. The search for a pet takes a turn when Loid's superiors uncover a plot by a group of Berlint University students to assassinate Westalis' Minister Brantz with bombs strapped to trained dogs. Loid sets out to stop them while keeping his spy work hidden from his family. Anya, meanwhile, stumbles into the terrorists' base, where she befriends a gentle dog that can see the future, later named Bond. Though each Forger keeps their own secrets, the family, now one member larger, stays together through every strange obstacle.
