A widowed teacher and his daughter find out they're not alone in the kitchen, and suddenly grief stops feeling like drowning. Since his wife died, math teacher Kouhei Inuzuka has been raising his young daughter Tsumugi on his own. He is a poor cook with little appetite, and his busy job leaves him feeding her convenience store meals. Unhappy that he cannot give her a fresh, healthy dinner, he accepts an invitation from his student Kotori Iida to eat at her family's restaurant. There they learn the place is often closed while her mother is away for work, and that Kotori frequently eats by herself. At her urging, Kouhei keeps bringing Tsumugi back so the three of them can cook and share homemade meals together. The result is a warm comedy and slice of life story about a devoted father trying to make his little girl happy, and about the value of cooking, family and home-cooked food.
