This is a victory lap disguised as a beach episode. Months after saving the world, Okabe and the lab finally get to be ridiculous together without the weight of time travel crushing them, and watching them operate at full comedy capacity, Okarin's mangled English, Mayuri's obliviousness, Kurisu's eye-rolls, reminds you why you loved these people in the first place. It has no plot to speak of, just the laboratory family you've earned the right to see happy, doing stupid things in Los Angeles.

A few months after the events of the television series, Okabe and the rest of the lab members get an invitation from Feyris to come along to the United States, where she is entering a Rai-Net battle event. Mayuri and the others hope to see Kurisu again, since she has returned to a laboratory in America. Days later, Okabe, in his mad scientist guise as Hououin Kyouma, lands by himself at the airport in Los Angeles. Kurisu, meanwhile, has been dreaming in fragments about things that happened on other world lines, and she presses Okabe on whether those moments, especially the ones between the two of them, were real. The one-episode OVA leans into comedy and romance within its sci-fi setting.
