A girl who's always half-asleep turns out to be carrying a generational curse, and the boy who falls for her has to watch her fulfill it. The movie doesn't sentimentalize the sadness, it lets you sit in the specific, quiet ache of loving someone whose purpose might erase them. By the time you understand what the "butterfly" means, you've already accepted that some people are born to disappear, and that doesn't make them love you any less.

A theatrical cut of the Summer Pockets anime, this movie centers on Ao Sorakado's route. Hairi grows close to Ao, a girl from the island who always seems sleepy for reasons no one explains. Along the way he sees her performing a duty handed down through generations of the Sorakado family. As he lends a hand with that duty, Hairi uncovers the secret of the butterfly and learns what Ao is truly meant to do. The film blends drama, romance, slice of life and supernatural elements.
