Yusaku watches the life he didn't choose happen to someone else, framing it through a camera lens. Two years of distance turns a goodbye into something more complicated: Katsuhiko returns as a stranger who gets the girl, the career, the ending that felt inevitable. The movie knows that sometimes the hardest thing to photograph is your own life moving forward without you in it.

Katsuhiko leaves for the United States, and Kasumi and Yusaku wave him off at Narita Airport. Two years later he has become a professional racer, and he returns to Japan with two goals: to compete, and to marry Kasumi. Yusaku, for his part, has taken up photography as a hobby. The 1988 feature film blends comedy, drama and romance.
