When a research team returns from the planet Minglong with an alien corpse, they unknowingly trigger a catastrophic transformation. Energy from the body pushes Blue Star's entire biosphere into supernatural evolution, and humans change along with everything else, rising through Human-level, Earth-level and Celestial-level ranks. The seven strongest Celestial-level evolvers, called the Seven Sages of Hanxia, defend Hanxia in a world beset by disaster. The upheaval draws the notice of the Great Yu Empire, which rules the surrounding star field and suspects a link to a fugitive it is pursuing. Using a trial tied to the new Tenth Academy of the Starry Sky as cover, it sends crowds of combat academy students to Blue Star to search for the fugitive. Meanwhile a young man named Lu Yin hides on the planet, knowing nothing of his origins beyond a memory of a massacre. He sees the transformation as his chance to gain a fresh identity, return to the stars and avenge that bloodshed. The result is an action sci-fi story of evolution and pursuit.
