A bunch of girls in 1925 decide to play baseball just to prove some guy wrong, and the show never stops being genuinely mad about it on their behalf. The historical setting isn't window dressing, every "no" they get from society is real friction, every uniform they wear is defiance, and the baseball itself is almost secondary to watching them refuse to be told what bodies like theirs are allowed to do. You're not watching girls overcome obstacles for a sports trophy; you're watching them take up space in a year when space was something society would not willingly give.

Set in 1925 Japan, when baseball is still barely known, only a few men's teams exist, and even running is thought too vulgar for women, fourteen-year-old Akiko refuses to accept that her future is predetermined. After a baseball player tells her that women should become housewives rather than go to school, she asks her friend Koume to help her form a girls' baseball team and prove him wrong. What sounds simple becomes a cascade of obstacles. Finding enough members is hard when the game is seen as something only boys do. Parents must be persuaded to give permission. Even the girls themselves discover that the sport is far harder to learn than they expected. Part comedy, part slice of life, the series follows their efforts to take up a game that everyone around them considers unsuitable for young women.
