Climate change has left the world underwater and the human population shrinking, so androids now handle most labor, service and entertainment. At the center of that entertainment stands Babel, a tower where musical units sing and dance through Climb Stages, earning bigger prize money the higher they rise, while trying to win over both human and android audiences. Four ownerless androids, Cobalt, Chrom, Neon and Kei, are living in an abandoned house and face a forced shutdown once their power is cut over unpaid bills. They decide to become Babel climbers, but winning over the crowd proves hard. After seeing STAND-ALONE, the top unit, perform, Cobalt is determined to improve. A mysterious choreographer offers them his routine, and with help from their human companion Esora Shibaura they form the unit KNoCC. They set out for the top of Babel while also facing discrimination against androids. The result is a music-driven science fiction series about an android boy band.
