The story grabs you by the throat, a king who died at the top with nothing to show for it, now a toddler in the Leywin house learning that love is the one thing his old life never had, and then the show hands that story to animation that pans across still frames like a webtoon scroll with a slideshow budget. Fans stay anyway because the bones are that good: Sylvia bleeding out in the cave and pushing her core into a stranger's kid, Jasmine drilling dagger forms into a boy she can tell is not a boy, Arthur forging his mana core at an age when other children are learning to read. Tessia and Virion give Elenoir real weight, and the Twin Horns are the found family Grey never allowed himself. Watch it for the story, then go read the novel. You will. Everyone does.
