Yuki finally gets to be awkward and vulnerable instead of omniscient. The entire OVA is her trying to keep summer vacation from ending because she doesn't want to stop spending time with Kyon, and watching her fail at hiding that desperation is the whole point. It's a romance built on someone who has infinite power choosing to be small and uncertain around one person, and that choice matters more than any confession could.

Kyon means to get through his summer homework, but Haruhi keeps pulling him and the rest of the group away for leisure: a trip to a water park, the Bon festival, stargazing, fishing and a movie marathon. When the break is almost over, everyone crowds into Kyon's home to finally do the work, only to end up playing cards and video games. The OVA is a comedy and romance spin-off of the Haruhi Suzumiya series, set in the world of the original novels' "Disappearance" arc, where a timid, bashful Yuki Nagato lives an ordinary high school life. It was bundled with the ninth volume of the Nagato Yuki-chan no Shoushitsu manga by Puyo.
