Saiki's deadpan refusal to care about anything, even when reality itself warps around him, is the entire joke, and after two seasons of watching him fail to stop being the center of chaos, this special just lets him lose. The comedy doesn't build to a punchline; it lives in the space between his internal monologue and whatever absurd thing is happening to everyone else. By the time you realize he's accepted his fate as an accidental disaster magnet, you're laughing at the same things he pretends not to notice.

Saiki Kusuo's long battle against chaos reaches its final chapter. This comedy special adapts the closing chapters of the manga. A massive volcanic eruption threatens to bury Japan under lava and ash, and the psychic high schooler Kusuo Saiki keeps using his powers to hold the disaster back. After repairing the planet and listening to his friends talk about their dreams, he decides to stop the eruption for good. Even for someone as powerful as Saiki, that is no easy job, especially with his absurd friends causing their usual trouble. The special closes out a franchise about a gifted psychic who only wants a quiet, ordinary life.
