A girl and a demon raise each other across a rule that should keep them apart, and the show trusts you to feel it without explaining it. The animation moves like watercolor, each frame lingering just long enough for you to understand what devotion looks like when it has no words. By the time you learn what Shiva actually is, you've already chosen your side, and the show knows you can't unknow what you've seen.

A world is split into the Inside and the Outside, and the people of both realms are warned never to cross over or they will be cursed. Shiva, a lost little girl from the Inside, lives in an empty village on the other side with a demonic, beastlike Outsider known only as Teacher. The two are forbidden to touch, yet they share a bond that reaches past their very different natures. When Shiva leaves Teacher's care to look for her grandmother, the secret behind their strange life together begins to come out. This single-episode fantasy mystery OVA adapts Nagabe's dark fantasy manga and was bundled with the limited edition of its eighth volume.
