A lazy fox spends spring partying while a hardworking raccoon dog family labors in the fields through the hot summer to prepare for the autumn harvest. The fox mocks the sweating raccoon dogs as they haul their crops and snatches a rabbit's food right in front of them. Winter arrives harsh and unforgiving. The raccoon dog family gathers warmly by the hearth, while the fox wanders through the snow hunting for something to eat. The hungry fox hatches a scheme, conjuring a phantom fire so it can raid the raccoon dogs' warehouse. Taking the form of a truck, the fox makes off with the stolen food, but a raccoon dog becomes a sleigh and gives chase. Soon the two sides are locked in a battle of transformations high in the air, and when one raccoon dog is left fighting with a single wing, his family steps in to help. The film tells a seasonal fable about hard work and idleness.
