A cat spirit gets caught between two worlds, and the movie refuses to pick a side for him. Wuxian treats Xiaohei like he matters as a person, not a symbol, and that small act of seeing someone clearly becomes the entire emotional spine of the film. The animation moves like nothing else, but it's the quiet moments, a spirit learning what home actually means, that break you.

Luo Xiaohei is a cat spirit forced to leave his forest home when humans clear it. Alone, he meets a group of other spirits who dream of taking back land they believe belongs to them. They take him in and give him a place among them. Everything changes when Wuxian, a human, confronts the group and separates the young spirit from them. Though Xiaohei refuses to cooperate, Wuxian makes him come along on a journey, and on the way the cat spirit learns to control his powers. Xiaohei must also decide for himself whether he stands with the spirits or with the humans. The result is a fantasy adventure film with action, built around a young spirit's choice about his future.
