Seventeen-year-old Sayako Amanokawa dreams of becoming a journalist like Kanemoto, the elite newspaper writer she admires. When Kanemoto is disgraced over a mistaken report on a corruption scandal, he takes his own life by stepping in front of a train. After that incident, Sayako abruptly gains the ability to see spirits and comes close to dying.
