The weight of becoming the hero your father couldn't stop being hits different when you're just a kid watching him bleed through the walls of your house. This show animates fight sequences like they physically cost something, every punch lands with impact, every dodge matters, because the city full of people you're supposed to save is always watching from the rubble. By the end you understand why Ultraman works as a character: he's not about saving the world cleanly, he's about trying to save it anyway when you know collateral damage is the only honest outcome.

Fifty years ago, the giant of light Ultraman saved Earth from kaiju and then vanished, leaving his human host Shin Hayata with no memory of those days. Now the world is at peace, but a new threat is growing in the shadows. Hayata's teenage son Shinjirou learns that he inherited the Ultraman Factor from his father and was born with a body far stronger and tougher than any normal human's. Hayata takes up a power suit to become Ultraman again. Then the alien Bemular attacks Shinjirou one night, and Hayata is badly hurt rescuing him. With dangerous aliens loose in the city, Shinjirou joins the SSSP as the new Ultraman and begins to question how far he will go to help people. The ONA blends action, drama and sci-fi.
