The world is already dead. What this show does is watch how people choose to live in the corpse anyway, and who gets to decide what that living looks like. Kenshiro doesn't save the world because the world is beyond saving. He moves through the wasteland erasing the people who think power means the right to destroy everyone weaker, one obliterated body at a time. The violence isn't style, it's the language of a place where mercy is the only currency that matters, and watching a man spend it on strangers in the dark makes you believe it's worth something.

In 199X, nuclear war has burned the world, dried up the oceans and left the land in ruins. Survivors scour the wreckage for food and water, but violence rules, and the strong prey on the weak without pity. Out of this despair walks Kenshiro, a man marked by seven scars arranged like the Big Dipper and the rightful heir to Hokuto Shinken, a legendary assassination art. He is hunting his sworn enemy Shin, who stole his fiancée Yuria. Along the way he answers the pleas of the oppressed and faces brutal survivors warped by greed and hunger for power. The result is a grim, hard-hitting sci-fi action drama set in the wasteland.
