The CGI leap from Season 1 is real enough that you'll forget you're watching a Netflix ONA until the plot tangles itself into knots around episode four. The five Ultramen moving through space together finally gives the franchise the scale it's been chasing since the 60s, even if the story can't keep up with what the animation is doing. Six episodes means no filler, but it also means the ending arrives before the setup finishes paying off.

People around the world begin disappearing in a mass vanishing event, and Rena and Shinjirou are among those who go missing at the same moment. Freelance journalist Kotaro Higashi starts looking into the incident. Behind it is Dark Star, an alien terrorist group that sends Earth an ultimatum: surrender half the planet or give up half its population. Rena and Shinjirou turn up aboard the Dark Star ship in orbit, while Kotaro, having uncovered too much, is trapped between Dark Star and the SSSP and barely survives. As the threat grows, Ultraman fights alongside Seven, Ace, Zoffy, Jack and Taro, with six Ultraman heroes gathered against the alien menace. Six episodes of sci-fi action and drama.
