Ulysses 31 Pilot is a single-episode science fiction adventure special made in 1980 by Telecom Animation, TMS Entertainment and DiC Audiovisuel as a trial run for the Ulysses 31 television series. It never aired, and its voice track exists only in Japanese. Its plot is nearly the same as the first episode of the finished show, but the story is the only part carried over intact. Every character returns, though several look quite different here: they have a conventional anime appearance, while the broadcast series later redrew some of them in a blend of Japanese animation and a European look modeled on classical Greek statues.
