A screenwriter watches a murder and suddenly has to live inside the action movie he's been writing. The gap between what he imagines on the page and what actually happens to his body when bullets start flying is the entire show. Aspiring screenwriter Ryou Matsumoto has been told to write from his own experience, but he thinks his life is far too dull to interest anyone. Then one evening in Kobe he sees a man shot dead in an alley. He barely escapes the killer, and the police brush off his account because the body has vanished. Afraid the murderers may now be watching him, Ryou hires a private detective named Mochizuki to protect him and keep investigating. Together with a girl he meets called Yuki, he becomes entangled with a criminal ring dealing in illegal antiques, and staying alive means playing the kind of action hero he normally only writes about.
