Born with a horn, Utsu no Miko has found shelter on Mt. Kongo, where he studies to become a god. When the ruling imperial government brings only ruin to the people, he and four friends set out on a 33-year quest to reach the Celestial Realm of Buddha and meet the almighty Father of the North Star, hoping to bring peace to a corrupt and chaotic Earth. What begins as a spiritual journey becomes a perilous odyssey that forces the group into direct confrontation with the gods themselves. Trespassing in the world of immortals, Miko must challenge the gods in battle to reach his goal, and the travelers find that these divine rulers have flaws and earthly desires of their own. Along the way, Miko also holds on to the hope of rescuing his love, Kagami. The OVA pairs adventure and fantasy with Buddhist spiritual ideas.
