The Cloths are the most beautiful armor design anime ever committed to film, and every time one unfolds on screen it feels like a small miracle. Seiya's journey from orphan street fighter to cosmic warrior doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it builds something so architecturally clean that everything after it, DBZ, Naruto, all of it, is working from the blueprint this show drew first. The animation stutters in places because the budget was tight in 1986, but the character work and those mythological details are so precise they make you forget it matters.

Long ago, the goddess Athena was protected by young warriors known as Saints, who fought without weapons and drew on the power of the Cosmos inside them. Blows from their bare fists could tear open the sky and split the ground. In the present day, a new generation of Saints is emerging. After six years of hard training, the young and spirited Seiya wins a hard-fought battle to claim the Cloth of Pegasus, earning his place as one of Athena's Saints. Winning the armor is only the start. Seiya joins other Saints who carry Cloths of their own, and together they fight for Athena against a long line of dangerous enemies. The result is an action adventure full of fantasy and science fiction elements.
