Wata no Kuni Hoshi Pilot is a fantasy special made as a pilot for The Star of Cottonland, which Mushi Production later developed into a feature film in 1984. Both the pilot and the film adapt a 1970s manga by Yumiko Oshima. The pilot plays out with no spoken dialogue at all, and it was released only as an extra on the film's DVD.
