A mother who will burn the world down to get her daughter back gains a weapon that forces her to become the thing governments fear most. The action is raw and bloody, built on desperation rather than heroics. Every transformation costs something, and by the end you understand that the real war was never about the artifact at all, it was always about whether a woman with nothing left has the right to fight back.

Masane Amaha and her daughter Rihoko are fleeing a government child welfare agency that means to separate them. The agency eventually catches up, and Rihoko is taken from her mother. Meanwhile, Masane comes under attack from a sophisticated weapon able to pass itself off as a human. Facing that threat, she sees an odd glow shine from her wrist and transforms into a mighty form, then destroys the attacker. That victory draws her into a conflict among ruthless organizations, all of them focused on her because she wields the legendary Witchblade. The result is an action science fiction story.
