A witch wakes up with no memory and twenty years of blood on her hands, and the only person who trusts her is a kid calling her "Mummy." The action doesn't stop to let you breathe, and it doesn't stop to let you know who Bayonetta actually is. Every fight is a piece of the puzzle, but the movie won't let you solve it until it's ready to break you with the answer.

Twenty years after waking in a coffin at the bottom of a lake with no memory of her earlier life, the Umbra Witch Bayonetta hunts the bloodthirsty forces of Heaven. She is looking for clues to her lost past and keeping the pact with the demonic powers that fuel her. Rodin, a bartender and weapon-smith, arms and guides her. The journalist Luka Redgrave trails her, convinced she had a hand in his father's death. A little girl named Cereza keeps calling her "Mummy", and a rival witch, Jeanne, serves the very side Bayonetta should be fighting. Adapted from the 2009 game, the film is a supernatural action fantasy.
