Akutabe's deadpan refusal to acknowledge how absurd his life has become is the entire joke, and it never wears out. Rinko keeps failing upward into situations that should be catastrophic, but the show treats her genuine effort to learn demon summoning with the same flat-voiced patience a teacher gives a student who keeps getting the math wrong. The two demons she accidentally summons aren't there to cause chaos, they're there to watch her fumble through the basics while everyone else acts like this is a normal Tuesday.

Rinko Sakuma works as the assistant to Akutabe, a renowned detective, and is trying to learn how to summon demons. When she finally pulls off a summoning, she unexpectedly calls up two demons at once, setting off a string of misadventures. The story centers on Akutabe, Rinko and the assortment of magical demons the detective relies on to handle his cases. The four OVA episodes play the premise for supernatural comedy.
