The show strips away the magical girl fantasy until what's left is four girls paying the actual price for saving the world. Their smiles cost something every single time. By the second film, you're not watching a hero story anymore, you're watching what it means to lose yourself piece by piece and still show up tomorrow. The tragedy isn't that they suffer. It's that they know exactly what's coming and do it anyway.
