An ancient evil stirs after twelve thousand years of slumber. The Demon Empire returns with plans to take control of Earth, but Reideen, a colossal guardian robot of the lost continent of Mu, senses its presence and wakes inside a golden pyramid. Reideen reveals to Akira Hibiki, a young Japanese boy, that he descends from the ancient Mu people and is the one who must help it save the planet. He is not alone in this fight. Mari Sakurano, whose scientist father opposes the Demon Empire, stands beside him, along with several players from his high school soccer team. Raideen is a 1970s adventure series that pairs giant robot battles with science fiction.
