These specials jump back thirteen years to the night the He family is slaughtered at a mutton soup restaurant in the Gobi Desert, with only the young He Fangzhi surviving. The killers are the same people He Fangzhi will face again thirteen years on, when he goes after revenge: Uncle Jian, Luo Tong, Hong Niang, Long Shun, and the Unjust Monk. Over the course of the night's bloodshed, each member of the murder squad reveals the private beliefs and personal motives behind their part in it. Everything builds toward a painful decision for Uncle Jian, caught between family and country on one side and loyalty and duty on the other. Amid the carnage, the story leaves open whether any of them truly get what they came for, and whether Uncle Jian's choice is worth it.
