SYNOPSIS
Tao Mengyan wakes from recurring nightmares that feel too real to ignore. The dreams pull her back to Zangling, a remote village shrouded in fog and forgotten by time. There, an ancient ritual demands a sacrifice: the selection of a "paper bride," a woman chosen to appease the spirits that haunt the land. When Tao discovers she's been marked for this role, the boundary between dream and reality collapses entirely. Trapped in Zangling's suffocating grip, Tao must uncover why she keeps returning to this place. The villagers guard dark secrets beneath their worship of the "paper bride" custom, and refusing the ritual means facing something far worse than death. As Tao pieces together fragmented memories of a past life, she learns that her fate is tied to a thousand-year-old curse rooted in the village's most terrible sin. Survival means understanding the truth. But the truth demands a price no one should have to pay.
