The absurdist core, swapped at birth, accidentally pretending to be each other's boyfriend and girlfriend, then discovering you were engaged the whole time, never stops being funny because the show refuses to resolve it. Comedy comes from watching two people trapped in a premise that keeps getting worse before anyone can explain anything. Nagi and Erika's chemistry survives the fact that the show barely moves their actual relationship forward, which is the real magic here.

High school student Umino Nagi was switched with another family's baby at birth, and he is finally about to meet his biological parents. On the way, he runs into Amano Erika, an outspoken girl from an elite, wealthy girls' school, who talks him into posing as her boyfriend so she can escape marrying her fiancé. The scheme falls apart at dinner: Nagi and Erika are the two babies who were mixed up as infants, and they are also engaged to each other. Their parents happily approve the engagement, and the pair begin living together. Nagi, though, is in love with his classmate Segawa Hiro, while Erika is set on rebelling against her father. They agree to share a home without getting involved with each other. The result is a chaotic romantic comedy built on an arrangement neither of them wanted.
