The setup promises a harem comedy, then immediately reveals itself as something quieter: five separate people with actual walls between them, and a tutor who has to convince each one that studying matters before he can convince any of them that he does. Every sister rejects him in a different way, and that friction is the entire show. By the end you don't just want him to pick one, you understand why he can't.

Fuutarou Uesugi is a top high school second-year from a poor, debt-ridden family, and his prickly, solitary manner has left him without friends. When a private tutoring job for a wealthy family comes along at five times the usual pay, he grabs it. The catch: his pupils are Itsuki, Miku, Yotsuba, Nino and Ichika, the Nakano quintuplets from his own class, and Itsuki is a transfer student he clashed with that same day. All five are beautiful, close to failing, and hate studying, and none of them wants a tutor. With his family's finances at stake, Fuutarou has to win their trust and get them to graduation. The result is a romantic comedy with slice-of-life and dramatic touches.
