A boy with a bruiser's face and a baker's hands meets a girl from the wrong side of the tracks at his family's patisserie, and for once, the meet-cute actually sticks. Rintarou helps out at his family's patisserie, and his tall frame and fierce face lead people to avoid him despite his gentle heart. When a customer named Kaoruko meets him, she runs off at first, then returns to apologize, and the two quickly get along. She does not judge him by his looks, and he looks forward to seeing her again. Then he learns she attends Kikyo, the prestigious girls' school next door to his own Chidori, a boys' school known for low grades and delinquents. The students of the two schools clash, and Kaoruko seems not to grasp how big a problem this is. Rintarou and Kaoruko must find their own way forward while avoiding the traps, both figurative and literal, that their classmates set for them. The result is a romantic comedy drama about two people whose relationship tests the social expectations around them.
