A man wakes up a century later and immediately everything goes wrong. The film treats a literal impossible premise, a resurrected spirit piloting a Mars ship toward Buddhist enlightenment, like a logical problem to solve rather than a philosophical statement, which means it stays loose and genuinely fun instead of pretentious. Nobody remembers this one exists, but the audacity of a director using himself as his own protagonist across a hundred years of history, mixing real footage with speculative sci-fi, deserves at least one afternoon of your time.

Mr. Ogino was meant to perish in the war, but science revives his spirit. He finds himself a hundred years on, in the year 2032, guided through this future by one of his descendants. The two set out on a voyage to Mars, but the ship breaks down: with a spirit from the past aboard, it veers out of control and heads for Buddha's paradise instead of the red planet. Director Shigeji Ogino cast himself as the lead of this sci-fi and supernatural film and worked actual footage of himself into it.
