Mai and Reo are locked in a constant cycle of bickering and friction at school. Reo is small, cute, and leans on Mai more than she admits, yet she stubbornly treats Mai's attempts to help her fit in with the class as a nuisance. Both girls are headstrong, and Mai grows frustrated and starts to wonder whether Reo actually hates her. When Mai finally asks, Reo answers with a confession of love instead.
