Every game matters because the tournament doesn't care about character development. Seidou's veterans carry the weight of a year spent reaching for something they'll never touch again, and the show watches them crack under it with zero mercy. This is baseball as time, the year they had their shot, the year it ended, the year they had to accept both things were true.

Seidou High School's baseball team enters a new season with fresh faces alongside familiar ones. Their win in last year's autumn tournament has earned them a place at Koshien for the first time in seven years, and second-year pitcher Eijun Sawamura finally gets to take the mound at the spring invitational. Beyond it waits the Summer Koshien, where the best team in the country is decided. With the third-years set to retire after the summer, the team has to combine the seniors' experience with the promise of its new players to face both old and new opponents. Sawamura still wants the No. 1 jersey and the ace position, which puts him up against his rival Satoru Furuya. Each of them hopes to carry Seidou to a national title.
