A short kid with a chip on his shoulder and a tall kid scared of his own shadow walk into a rugby club. Neither of them knows the sport exists. By the end of the first episode, you understand why they need it more than it needs them. All Out!! builds its entire world around the moment when misfits stop being alone in the same room together and actually become a team. The rugby itself is an excuse to watch fifteen completely different people learn they're stronger together than they ever were apart. It's not about winning a tournament. It's about the kid who couldn't fit anywhere finally finding his place.
Kenji Gion is a short, feisty freshman at Kanagawa High School who stays angry about his lack of height. Sumiaki Iwashimizu is tall but timid. Bullies throw the two together on their first day, and soon both are invited to watch the rugby club. Seeing a match, Gion realizes the sport has positions for players of every build and signs up on the spot. Iwashimizu turns the club down, but Gion won't accept his excuses and hauls him back in. Their training grows grueling as the team aims to win Hanazono, the nationwide high school rugby tournament, and the club is what turns this mismatched duo into friends.
