Ushio Hinomaru arrives at Oodachi High School with a single obsession: sumo wrestling. There's just one problem. He's small in a sport where being big and heavy is everything, and professional sumo sets a minimum size he does not meet. His dream is still the top rank, Hinoshita Kaisan, and his only way into the pro ranks is to become High School Yokozuna, the title for the strongest wrestler in high school competition. Time is short, and a poor showing in school tournaments could close that door for good. Rather than join Ishigami High, the country's leading sumo school, he picks Oodachi, whose feeble club has just one dedicated member, Shinya Ozeki. Starting from almost nothing, Ushio sets out to build the club up and push the underdogs toward the top in this action-packed sports anime.
